Artificial respiration
About artificial respiration
A respirator will supply you with a combination of air and oxygen and will remove the carbon dioxide produced by the body.
Artificial respiration may be provided in a respiratory centre or in your home. If respiration takes place at home, this will be at the advice and subject to the responsibility of a respiratory centre.
Artificial respiration in a respiratory centre includes:
- the artificial respiration itself
- the accompanying medical specialist care, medicinal care and nursing care
Artificial respiration at home includes:
- the equipment needed. A respiratory centre will supply the equipment for each treatment ready for use
- the accompanying medical specialist care, medicinal care and nursing care
- the electricity costs you incur. These can be claimed through our expense form. Please note: a CPAP machine is not covered. If you have a CPAP machine at home to treat sleep apnea, your electricity costs will not be reimbursed
