Incontinence products

Incontinence products are medical aids that absorb, discharge or collect urine and faeces.

Examples of incontinence products are:

  • urine collection bags;
  • stoma products;
  • catheters with bladder liquids;
  • incontinence absorbent material;
  • flushing equipment (anal);
  • hernia braces.

Bed-wetting alarms do not fall under the reimbursement of incontinence products. More information can be found under reimbursement of medical aids.

Reimbursement

Reimbursement incontinence products

By virtue of the HollandZorg public healthcare insurance, you are entitled to a reimbursement for incontinence products:

Basic Health Insurance  Reimbursement
HollandZorg basic health insurance  100% in the case of contracted care

Prescription needed?

For incontinence products, you need a prescription from a physician or specialist nurse.

On loan or owner?

You will be the owner of the incontinence products.

Maximum rates non-contracted provider

If you are planning on going to a provider with whom we have no contract for your incontinence products, we apply a maximum reimbursement. The non-contracted provider has to comply with the conditions set out in the Medical aids regulations.

A medical aid or dressing that we normally sell to you is reimbursed up to a maximum of 75% of the costs we would incur if you would have received the care from a contracted care provider. In that case, we also reimburse a maximum of 75% of any repair costs in connection with the medical aid.

Statutory personal contribution

Incontinence products are not subject to a statutory personal contribution.

Excess

Are you 18 or older? The costs of incontinence products count towards the compulsory and, if applicable, voluntary excess.

Who can you go to?

Incontinence products are available from a contracted chemist or provider of medical aids. Our Care finder helps you find a contracted chemist or provider of medical aids near you.

If you opt for a non-contracted care provider to get incontinence products, this provider still has to be a chemist or S.E.M.H.-recognised provider of medical aids.

Experiences ostomy aids and treatment

Are you currently using ostomy aids? If so, we would like to know about your experiences with the treatment and/or the ostomy appliances. You can report these experiences, both positive and negative, to Meldpunt Stomazorg.
